Metronome

Just ordered a clip on metronome to wear during running because...I ran 3 miles at 8.6 m/m the other day by counting seconds the long way the entire time I run because I figured out I run at least 3 steps per second, which meant I was running a minimum 180 cadence. I have never ran 3 miles faster than 10 m/m. I was shocked!

Speed is just a by-product of fast cadence. The REAL reason I want to keep rapid and steady cadence is because when my cadence is 180,Ieasily strike mid-foot(when my cadence is slower I am more likely tostrike fore-foot), my stridebecomes much shorter which keeps my feet from going past mid-line and causes my legs to lift faster (decreasing potential injuries), my center of gravity is tighter which increases the use and strength of my core muscles.Of course all of this leads toa more streamlined posture and form and, hence, faster speeds.

I can't wait to get my metronome so I will no longer look like I'm muttering to myself as I run. Lol.
