I felt like the barefoot movement caught me by surprise. It all started one day when I was kayaking solo down my home river. I usually grab my extra car to get the shuttle done, but thought that once I put on, I would just dump my kayak gear at the take out, and run completely naked.. well, I left my swim trunks on, but you get the picture.. Anyway I was amazed at all the little sensory things that were happening to my feet. Yeah, I could not believe jumping through puddles in the rain could be so satisfying. Well, I got back to the car and could not believe how I felt. Energized, happy, and full of accomplishment. That actually started my quest to run with now what I call good, better, and best. I just made my second purchase soley for running. Coming from a long line of gear junkiness, I am no stranger to gear envy. well, I think I have completed my triangle, at least for my new found passion. Running. I am now the proud owner of the new NB trail minimus. I have been running barefoot/Vff for the last few months, but seem to have come into low mileage days due to the transition effect. I would rather sit on my butt, than put some shoes on. Well, my mileage is coming back, and sore feet, and calves are kind of a thing of the past. I went on a run today with my new shoes, and really felt like they wanted me to fly. I felt really, good, and was a little concerned about no having the 0 lift I have worked so hard to adjust too. Today felt like a total workout, without me worrying about my feet. Everything felt so comfotable and fast, that I now have a shoe that will let me run in, without feeling like I will kill my feet. I think I will use these for my upcoming trail run, and I think this will make me able to complete, and be comfotable. I have no soreness in my calves, actually I feel fine. Here is my training log.
