Wacked pinky toe at mile 11 and limped in 3 minutes past the cutoff at 15.5 miles. Saw 2 barefooters doing a shorter distance. Also shin pain on right side I can't explain.
57:54 5k Merrell Down & Dirty Sacramento, Ca Walked on part of course barefoot prior to race, chickened out & wore minimalist shoes. I only wore them during the race though. It was an obstacle course.
Did that 10k last month and pulled something in my calf. I take a long time to heal from stuff like that. I tried a short 3 mile run BF and aggravated the problem. Did 12 miles in my minimalist shoes and it was tough. Trying out compressionn socks today for my run.
Did 2 miles sans shoes on Tues and not feeling the PF blues! Run/Walk @ about 30 minutes. Not setting records.

Am going to work on running my first marathon in December using the run/walk method. Did my first run 3.2 miles 1/3 barefoot and the remainder in Merrel Truegloves. Ifelt the need for more protection in the onset of training than my VFF's would provide. Feel pretty good right now.
After running my first barefoot mile I learned the true meaning of mindfulness. Before that it was a momentary experience during meditation or gazing at my kids, however I believe it may be impossible to run barefoot safely without being completely in the present. I loved it and plan to do it...
Just brought home my new son, born yesterday. Have not been running much lately. Over did it in Fivefingers and got a case of PF. Starting slower this time.
