1ST Huarache Run

Well Canada - NO-Post finally ended the abduction of our Huraches and for a reasonable ransom so I guess I should not complain. Both Emma & I did a walk (3k), then I did an additional 3K run. The wise souls among you out there are no doubt already correctly thinking TMTS. Perhaps, but after nearly a month waiting for our damn Huraches to arrive I could not wait to actually give them a test run.

The 3K distance and route is the one Emma & I have been using regularly for the last few weeks. She has been having better results BF which makes sense as she has been not only going about BF more than I but also running more as well. In BF mode I am doing OK but am still in the 'slightly' uncomfortable' stage.

Last night with the Huraches it was a very different experience. Despite being tired after a long day at work and doing my usual 22K bike commute the run went very well. With the huraches my stride felt better, well mostly, my cadence was signifigantly faster, and the overall experience was more like the BF running experience I have been reading about and to which I was aspiring. In short it was great, despite delving a 'bit' into TMTS.

I was also encouraged by an increase in speed over the 3K route to a 6 minute K. Being able to run this loop comfortably at this speed was a revelation and very motivating. So too was the lack of any hot spots or damage to my feet despite encountering a few rough patches.

Needless to say I regard the test run as a complete success and I look forward to the next run. I have noted that it will take me a while to get used to the feel, or non feel of the Huraches as I kept expecting the laces to drop off my heel during the run due to the lack of sensation of having my foot encased. While this freedom is great it will take me a while to get used to the lack of feeling the footwear when running in Huraches. This experience clarified the name of my Huraches supplier - Invisible shoes.

Clearly I have been re-energized, hopefully not to the point of reckless TMTS. It is nice to look forward to runs again...:)

TTFN.

Jenn

PS - Apologies for inposing an image of my ungainly feet upon you all...
