What are your thoughts on minimalist shoes for running in packed snow?

I'm going countertrend here and speaking up for my VFF Bikilas. They aren't perfect, for sure, but they served me fine through last winter's miserable ice season.

heat-wise, I don't think VFFS are all that bad as long as one doesn't plan on using them as a backup for a winter barefoot run. I'm torn on them traction-wise, as I can see where they would be decent on ice (lots of surface area) but in slush/snow I had a hard time with mine.

I'm not a barefoot runner,

I'm not a barefoot runner, but I plan on using my Merrell Sonic Gloves. Haven't tried them in snow yet but they seem to do well when its wet outside. I didn't notice them being hot.

I'm shocked no one has

I'm shocked no one has mentioned Teva Protons/Sling Kings. They are Neoprene and as boat shoes offer excellent traction. My MT 100's are good, too but they are too much shoe for me now. I run in packed snow and ice alot in the winter in the city.
