Had a couple pics so thought I'd post em up... not really much to report on the race so figured I'd use the Picture section.
Thats Amber and myself, she ran 55:45 for her second (and fastest) 10k, and placed first in her age group. I have not been able to bring her to the darkside, even though her weiner dog tried to help by destroying her new running shoes the night before the race (the ones there are actually pretty old)!
I was sporting my old BRS shirt, lost of comments on this race, all pretty positive!
Once again it was nearly too cold to run barefoot. Was around 37F for the race. I can go mid 30's is about all, and for a race when I know I'm going to be a little distracted and not concentrating as much on form I don't like to be so close to going numb. But I decided to go for it. At first they were a bit cold, but warmed up fine after about a mile. Not sure if that had anything to do with the extra wear on my soles (below).
My photobucket account is on the fritz, not sure if its them or this laptop but I'm just going to attach the others below...
My first plaque! One advantage of a small race.
Myself an Amber on the stats. Those two guys ahead of me were in a different league!
And finally the carnage, the day after. I did an easy 3 miles today just to stretch the legs back out. Feet are pretty sensative. It looks worse than it is, I was just in the spa here at the hotel for about 10 minutes and the worn areas turned really white. But it made it stand out enough to show up well in a pic so I took one. The skin is pretty thin there, around it you can feel it gets much thicker. Also got a little blister in the middle of the old blister I had on the toe... might be pushing off or something, will have to really try and pay attention to my form going forward. Little spot on my heel too, I don't have that on the other foot, but the forefoot pads are pretty identical between my two feet.
