His sense of vision and history seems pretty limited. It's as though the last couple hundred thousand years of our racial development are just dead history while Starbucks and pizza are really important. I don't know. Maybe he's right. I still have the feeling that running is connecting me to something bigger and deeper than any old spare time activity.
To give him credit, he did just run his first marathon in under 2:50. (I read about it in another of his posts.) Pretty good for a Canadian academic. Pretty good for anybody!
