Question about BF running...

I'm a complete newbie to these forums and BF running in general. I started out a couple of weeks ago by taking the insoles out of my Reebok Realflex and ran with no issues. Check! After giving that a week, I went out and bought myself a pair of the Bikilas. I get a little pain when I run in them, mostly up the back of my calf on my right leg. Since I can handle 2 miles in them without significant discomfort, I'm going to count them as a 'check' too.

My problem came with I tried to run the same distance, completely BF, that I was able to run in my Bikilas. I had no issues with the run itself but had some serious problems afterwards. The right side of my foot, directly under my pinky toe to the outside, felt like it was going to just slide off of my feet.

My question is, does this sound like a form issue to you long-time BFers? I do know that I had a mid-foot strike and that I tend to land on the outside of my foot and then flatten out. Would really appreciate any and all input!

It sounds like too much too

It sounds like too much too soon, and it certainly could be related to your form. First, listen to your body!

Next, it would really be to your benefit to read the following links and lose your shoes until you get proper form. I have tried to list these so there is a progressively greater depth of knowledge from the links as you go down. That is not to say the first two are not worth one's time. In fact it is important to keep in mind that Christian and Jason's newer material is a reflection and condensed form of the earlier material. In my opinion it is perfect for someone who wants to get involved without getting too involved.

You might think of it as if the first two are like 20 page driving manuals while the last three are like a 200 page mechanic's parts manual. A person, while not hurt by the knowledge gained from it, does not have to know the latter inside and out to effectively and efficiently drive the vehicle.

From Christian Peterson (notice that there are three posts in his "form" series so far and this link is to the first) http://www.maplegrovebarefootguy.com/2011/08/mgbg-form-tip-1-walk-barefoot.html

From Jason Robillard http://barefootrunninguniversity.com/2011/08/19/abcs-of-barefoot-running/ and (notice that this one is comparatively thorough) http://barefootrunninguniversity.com/barefoot-running/

From Barefoot Ted http://www.barefootted.com/index.php?q=/2010/04/so-you-wanna-start-running-barefoot.html

Finally from Barefoot Ken Bob http://therunningbarefoot.com/begin-here/
