I find intriguing the lack of members from latin-american countries in our community. We do have a Mexican chapter (thanks for that!) but only a few of us are actually in this country and for some reason most of them have stopped logging into the site. I certainly acknowledge we have some latin brothers and sisters in the US, and we thank them for their adherence and interest in the chapter, but I'd also like to see more members living in Latin America.
The notable exception to this is the Brazilian chapter, which also has a few members, and although we all know we don't share the same language, we do have very similar cultures. Greetings brasileiros brothers!
This next sunday I'll run my first local race, a 9k (I know, odd distance), and I may get some attention and, who knows, maybe more people would get interested in this. However, I'm aware the latin culture has a strong resistance to the idea, since (as I've read somewhere) we usually associate being barefoot with poverty and this doesn't help our cause at all. Let's hope this mentality would start changing little by little.
I hope we all start seeing more spanish-speaking members around, at least I'll try to do my part.

Me parece intrigante la falta de miembros de países latinoamericanos en esta comunidad. Tenemos un chapter de México (gracias!) pero son pocos los que están físicamente en este país y por alguna razón han dejado prácticamente todos de entrar al sitio. Sé que tenemos algunos hermanos latinos en USA, y se les agradece su apego y adición a este capítulo, pero también me gustaría ver más miembros viviendo en latinoamérica.
La notable excepción a esto es el chapter de Brasil, donde también se cuenta con algunos miembros, y aunque todos sabemos que no compartimos el mismo idioma, sí tenemos culturas muy similares. Saludos hermanos Brasileiros!
Este próximo domingo correré mi primer carrera local, un 9k, espero que eso llame un poco la atención y quién sabe, igual y sale más gente interesada. Sin embargo, estoy conciente que la cultura latina tiene fuerte resistencia a esta idea, pues (según he leído por ahí) comúnmente asociamos el andar descalzos con pobreza, lo que no ayuda a nuestra causa. Esperemos esto vaya cambiando poco a poco.
Esperemos pronto podamos ver más miembros de habla hispana por acá, al menos yo intentaré hacer mi parte.
