Help: need some suggestions for Trails around Vegas

I'll be out in Vegas at the end of March for a conference. I have a wednesday afternoon free and I would love to sample some of the canyon or mountain trails near Vegas.

I'm addicted to trail runnign here in Massachusetts and I would love to experience the world of southwestern trails.

I'm looking for some thing that is barefoot/minimalist friendly on the order of 5-10mi and within maybe 30min of the strip.

It seems like Red Rock Canyon NCA is probably the call unless there is some local tribal knowledge here that would be better.

Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I would agree - Red Rock

I would agree - Red Rock canyon is a great place to explore. I haven't done any running there, but I have hiked the area, it's nice. Lots of trails. If you like to scramble on rocks that would be the place to do it, too! I scambled there all day and got pretty gnarly sunburn.

I wish I had more suggestions. All of my siblings are in the Air Force so I've been out there at Nellis quite a bit. I've spent more time on the strip than in the wilderness, heh.
