Hi everyone,
Thanks for letting me in - I'm just starting with barefoot running and am grateful that this community exists.
Bit of background: I used to be fairly sporty (fencing and cycling more than running) but last year started to try running more. While training for a marathon I started getting injured and couldn't work out why (I'm not very smart that way...)
Culminated in having my right knee sieze up in the closing stages of a 30km race. In a fit of frustration I took off my shoes and ... was able to run the final km basically pain free.
So I am going back to basics and doing all my running barefoot. It'll take a long time to get my milage back to where it was, but along the way I hope to have given my body the time it needs to grow into it.
I'm hoping to run my first barefoot 5km towards the end of June, and see how things go.
What else? Well, I'm vegan, and am based in northern Germany but am originally from London.
Bye for now
