Hey everyone,

Here's a completely positive barefoot running new story from Akron, Ohio, just posted on Youtube:

Even the sports medicine doctor who was interviewed was in favor of barefoot or minimalist running. Usually these stories feature a podiatrist who doesn't know anything about it, but is against the idea. This was a refreshing change.

Now that was nice.  The

Now that was nice. The doctor is very young. That's a good thing here. Perhaps as barefoot running progresses into the mainstream, this new, fresh thinking will be more prevalent. I think much of the resistence we face comes from older podiatrists who are set in their ways and have a hard time going against "conventional" thinking.

Note: The doctor interviewed

Note: The doctor interviewed is an MD, not a podiatrist. He is a pediatric (NOT podiatric) specialist and also is a runner and triathelete.

Dr. Troy Smurawa, M.D., FAAP

He developed the curriculum and directed the education of medical students and residents in the sports medicine clinic.

"While running natural isn't

"While running natural isn't for everyone..." - Narrator

He sounds just a bit sarcastic in my opinion, doesn't he?

Although he speaks the truth,

Although he speaks the truth, I wish he would qualify his remark, such as, "People who have diabetes, circulatory conditions, etc., etc., should not run barefoot," and then add, "But, everyone else should at least give it a try, for the fun factor if anything." ;-)

Still a good story

Still a good story nonetheless and not far from where I'll be next weekend...

Hope I get some good runs in while I'm down there and the weather is more cooperative than it was today... I gave in and kept it short... it was pouring with a winchill of 34..
