Not sure if this has been asked before, can't seem to find anything relevant. I think I broke my toe yesterday running a very technical trail including some pretty intense climbs barefoot. I was running down a single track which was complete with overhanging foilage, and I clipped a rock (I should say boulder) with my right pinky toe. Hurt like heck for a couple of minutes but I was able to continue to run / walk for the rest of the trail with some discomfort if I put a lot of pressure on it.
It is definitely showing some signs of swelling and the bruising patterns are quite interesting (I will have to take a picture and post it later), but I can still walk on it ok with a little bit of pain when I hit it the wrong way. Right now I am wearing my VFF's so it seems ok.
First question, as I have never broken a toe, does the above sound like it is broken or just very bruised.
Second question, can you run with a broken toe?
I have some major runs coming up and don't want to miss them but I don't want to do more damage either.
Any previous experience or comments would be appreciated.
