Wineglass Glassfest 8k race in Corning, NY

This was a fun race with a field of 549 runners and walkers combined. The weather was a bit chilly but perfect for a run, it was 48f with a feels like temp of 44f and some wind gusts. I actually think it was trying to sleet at one moment while we were waiting for the start.

I took first in the completely barefoot category, yes only me barefoot again..... I finished 36th overall, 8th out of 60 in my 30 to 39 age group, managed and average pace below 7 minutes. I was super psyc'd about that. A 6:56 min/mi average pace. My time was 34:21.78. All participants recieved a glass medallion for completing the race.

This race starts on a school track and ends on the same. The majority of the race is on pavement. I managed to stub my left big toe again..... and stubbed it good, instant blood and I managed to leave a bloody toe print over the bridge I stubbed it on.



This photo was an hour or two after the race, didn't think to take a pic with my cellphone after the race I was too focused on hitting it with hydrogen peroxide.

I'm getting very experienced at stubbing my toes, I don't mean to do it, it just happens. When it does I don't let up, I just look down..... if it's red, I stubbed it good.



Robbins 10k Trail Run in Danville, PA

My first "official" barefoot trail run/race. This run was awesome in my opinion. Myself and a friend travelled just under two hours to Danville, PA for this run. The race is part of the River Towns Race Series, http://new.rivertownrace.com/.

I originally signed up for the one out of this series called the "Humdinger Trail Run" where I guess while you run there are bears that insult you as you run the race. Talking to others at the Robbins Run they said if you're looking for a bunch of fooling around the Humdinger is the way to go but if you want to be somewhat serious start toward the front.

Ok, back to the Robbins 10K. 94% of the run is park trail, a mix of grassy area, stone areas, shale, mud, tree roots, railroad stone (rails to trails section). Took a little warm up jog and fell flat on my arse due to a bit of mud hidden under some fresh cut grass. Tuck and Roll worked well, it's good to practice falling.

My results on this run, I finished 19th out of a field of 52 males, place 4th out of 7 in the 36 to 40 age group for men. There was a total of 94 runners in the 10k, I think I placed 21st out of the 94 after doing the math. They didn't post the overall results. My finish time was 46.58.0 with an average pace of 7:34 min/mi.

Both the 5k and the 10k start at the same time. The trail itself was well marked and they had people posted at potential problem spots and any dangerous roots, rocks, etc were hit with some orange paint to warn runners.

Injury report on this one..... Well I didn't stub my toes at all. I knew I was going to be hurting later in the day and actually still have some minor bruising on my soles today due to the lovely railroad stone that adorned a few up-hills, down-hills and other areas. Parts of the course are mountain biking trails.

I managed to develop a blood blister but didn't realize it until I got home from the run. Don't exactly know how I did it, it was on my heel. They only thing I can think of is when running a downhill area "bottoming out" I must have nailed a railroad size stone.
