Yes, I agree. The cold will always win when we overdo it.

I do find that if I can keep my core, head and hands warm, my feet are fine. I'm sure there's a limit to this.

Do you find that when you run barefoot in seriously frigid temps, that if you bundle up thick in the torso, your feet don't feel the cold as much...

Hey all barefoot runners, I'm grateful for all your responses. They've kept coming in for a while now but I have sufficient data to complete my report. Just as an interesting point, more than 70% of respondents stated that they believed 'greater enjoyment while running' was the greatest...
I am going to begin running barefoot. This was a bizarre statement even coming from my mouth, I can only imagine the initial thoughts when my significant other heard that. I think back to my childhood and my “barefoot” history. Oregon offered lots of lush greenery and the part of Clackamas...
Hi All barefoot runners, The survey count is up to 4 responses. Let's keep that rising if we can! https://www.thebarefootrunners.org/entries/barefoot-running-survey.1231/ One very interesting statistic is that most people said that they have been able to go significantly faster or longer since...
Hi, all members of the amazing Barefoot Runners Society! "Shoes do no more for the foot than a hat does for the brain" - Dr Mercer Rang, legendary podiatrist and orthopedic surgeon. I aim to qualify this statement by researching the benefits of barefoot running - I am a runner and it has worked...
Hey, I have been walking my dog lately with the forefoot strike I notice knee pain at mile 3 and 4. Is this because when I walk I should use this form and I should only use the form when I run. Please help
On Sunday July 17, I ran the Mauritius Marathon in Huaraches with the last 10 k barefoot. With a time of 4h59, I was first and last of my category (barefoot).
Anyone who remembers the Teletubbies painting with hands and feet episode will love this video. It's my first barefoot video of me painting my feet and making footprints.
I also have a lot of videos and pictures of me and my bare feet. I'll post them for you to see so you can let me know if you like them.

As a kid I was like everyone else except for I have autism. I also wore sandals as a kid but it just stopped in middle school. I was afraid that being barefoot was bad for me. It progressed in high school and college where the only time I went barefoot was swimming or in bed. It wasn't until I...

It actually could be worse - just 3 days before almost 10 inches of new snow fell and last drops was gone on Sunday morning. Cloudy, windy, wet and rainy was this year Slovenian Barefoot Run - IBRD 2016. But no matter what you throw in front of feet of this crazy bunch - out of almost 180...
I've recently discovered the issue that I previously had with my right calf...is now also present in my left too! According to the physio, there appears to be high percentage of fast twitch fibres in my calves that fatigue relatively quickly...then don't relax!! I hadn't run for 4 days the first...

If Superman ever put glasses on Lois Lane's dog would she say, "I've never seen this dog before. Is this a new dog?"

I was excited to find that IBRD existed, but sadly could not participate in my local (St Louis, MO, USA) event.I did make sure to get out, and it was a beautiful mild late afternoon 4 miles. I ordered my shirt, so I will be rocking that soon. A couple of neighborhood elementary-aged girls...

I was excited to be part of my first IBRD event. No matter how independent one may feel, the truth remains that we are built for relationships. Being together with like minded folks is always a plus. As much as I enjoy communicating on our community forums, I looked forward to conversations...

A post by our fearless leader, TJ , got my head churning (see post here). Many thoughts and ideas have been floating around lately and this article seems to have created the catalyst to turn them into viewpoints. I think these viewpoints will not be all that popular in this community. I have...

How is it possible that people in Virginia don't just break into a spontaneous running event on an April weekend? I was staying in the Fairfax area of this state for business purposes. My colleague drove the rental and I ignored him as I marveled on my map all the trails in the area. Not only...

Ow, ow, ow. Muther-ow! ow. All my barefoot runs, which have been only a few, have benfitted from smooth, clean surfaces: the gym till I got booted and the sidewalk on the two warm days in early March. I decided to change that last night. The mornings are still a bit cold for me to handle the...

I recently broke the 4 mile barrier for my daily runs. My post-run self feels a quicker recovery afterwards as well. I am not dying when the run ends. I can start picking up the pace so I can go farther in the same amount of time. Last week I ran a two outdoor runs barefoot. They were the...
