Dear BRS members,

I don't get serious a lot, but I am serious about this cause. I have recently signed up for Team in Training (TNT) through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in order to support their quest to find a cure for blood cancer. Team in Training raises money by asking for its members to raise money by training for and competing in endurance events throughout the US and the world. This year I will be fundraising for LLS with a goal of participating in the Honolulu Marathon on December 12, 2010.

This is an organization that I have supported for several years, and its mission is very personal for me. In 2004, my wife's closest friend Cassandra was diagnosed with Leukemia. It's a disease that almost took her life. Luckily, through the support of LLS, she made a full recovery and has been cancer-free since 2006. Cassandra's family and friends have been heavily active with LLS since them. I hope that by running and fundraising for LLS that others afflicted with blood cancers can also find their way to a cure.

I have set a personal goal to fundraise at least $4,900 by September 30, 2010 for LLS's continued search for a cure. If all of my friends and family give a minimum of $25, I will be able to reach that goal! I encourage all of you to donate generously to this great cause! Of the money you donate, 76% will go directly to research and patient aid. As your BRS lawyer, I can also tell you that any money you donate is 100% tax deductible!

Donating is fast and easy. Just visit my donation website at the address listed below. LLS accepts all major forms of payment.

You can also donate by sending a check to my address, which I will provide on request.

Thank you for your generous support!

BUMP!Thank you to everyone

BUMP!

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. I've raised over $1200 so far towards my $5000 goal!

If you haven't donated yet, please go to my fundraising website and check it out. I hope everyone can afford at least $25 to support a great cause!

Sorry to hear that

Sorry to hear that jschwab.

We have been fundraising for LLS since 2004 when my friend Cassandra was diagnosed. She is a survivor, but actually lost most of the bone in her hips as well as her gall bladder. It's a horrible disease.

This is the first year I've undertaken this much of an effort though. It's such a great organization and it did a lot for Cassandra.

He went for a long time

He went for a long time undiagnosed (it was in his hip, too) and he was very young when he died (ca. 40). It's a horrible disease. Some of his friends are trying to figure out how to set up a memorial fund for him (he hosted a music party every year that still goes on in his memory).
