    Operation Disposable Socks

Two things: running, yes, I stole TJ's idea there and used to do it a lot. I couldn't get the mileage out of them that she was, but I was buying tiny target socks too and usually could get about 6 miles out of them. Which since I just wore them to warm up in was about six runs. Also another...

    Other barefoot communities?

I used to post here and lurk at "the other place". I never posted there though because it just didn't seem too friendly and open of a place, I never even registered with a user name. For a long time I was a massive lurker at Hal Higdon's marathon forums, I started there when I first started...

    Are barefoot runners inherently crazy?

A little late to this since I haven't been around the internets much, but I'd have to agree with a causation in the order of "crazy people" become barefoot runners not the other way around. Other aspects of my life fall extremely far into the realm of non-conformist and are what most people...

    The "Transition": fact or fiction?

Well I'm more minimal and bare than purely bare, but yeah I hit that point. The point where I realized I hadn't even considered jumping into my frees for running purposes in months and no longer felt any urge to in the least. I do still run in my New Balances trail minimus shoes and those are...

Thoughts to contemplate on those long runs

I think about conversations that could come up and the best ways of talking them out, what people could say in response and how I should best respond. Normally these are in the context of possible arguments (well discussions but that line can be fine sometimes), work situations, interviews...

My take on the Altra Adam (review)

The one really odd thing about them (well the eve but same thing) that I find annoying is they somehow draw heat out from the very pits of hell or something. If its over about 85 degrees they get obscenely hot. Other than that I love them though. The Zems are a bit more minimal, but they also...

How would you feel if you were told there was a possibility that you could never run again?

I'd decide Drs. were just overly cautious give it some time and then attempt to get back anyway. And in the meantime I'd buy the most b@d@ss mountain bike I could find and use my inability to run at all as a excuse to see a much larger mileage of trails thanks to the speed of a bike.

    Paleo - 2nd thoughts

It would probably be better on the planet if most people went with a higher veggie less meat version of the paleo diet. Which honestly, a large part of me think this is probably closer to how we would have evolved anyway. I mean 2-3 million years isn't that long in the grand scheme of things. So...

    What can I eat?!?!?!?!

This is also why they think Okinawins live so long. They eat far less than the rest of the world. There are some rodent studies that back this up too. With that said, I subscribe to the "if you run enough you can eat whatever you want" way of life.

Recovery Runs: the hair of the dog that bit you?

Do recovery runs from life count, if so all of mine are. But on a more helpful note. Yeah I used to when I ran all the time. Usually two of my runs a week were slow 5 or 6 milers that I considered recovery runs. I know they are a bit long for most people's definitions of a run, but I did walk...

    Zazzle Store Additions

Is it that your account doesn't work or that you can't access the website. I'd assume you could just make a new account.

    What can I eat?!?!?!?!

The only reason anyone should ever watch Dr. Oz is to make fun of him. I've often thought about playing a drinking game based on when he gives unsupported or wrongly supported advice, but I was afraid I'd die of alcohol poisoning after an episode.

    Zazzle Store Additions

Hey everyone! I've added in some merchandise to the store using the vertical logos. They also have the BRS url on the back. I've added them to many of the shirt options, but I've also set all the images to be able to be added to any merchandise and editable, so you can add them to anything you...

Training to run by not running: what's your week look like?

Did you do those as long runs or lots of shorter runs intermixed? A long run and lots of shorter distances?

    2 hour run without fuel.

I think its also a metabolic crutch that can be easily broken. Its not 100% mental, but that's no excuse.

Training to run by not running: what's your week look like?

I have seen both of these resources before and Zap and the blog post above were actually what got me thinking about it. Especially since I remember back when Zap was posting about all the problems she was having with running and it seemed to have cured it. I'm a little concerned with as little...

Training to run by not running: what's your week look like?

After a pretty rough year of not running much due to random injuries (that have nothing to do with bf) I'm almost fully healed up. I'm hoping to do another 50k in the spring, but I don't really feel like putting in the 80 mile weeks I was before when I did them. I know there are a decent number...

    Awestruck at mall strike

When I lift and do jumpy things, or use the stair master or elliptical I do it all in my Zems. Bikes and rowing require shoes. I don't go barefoot anywhere other than the martial arts room where it is actually mandated, I just don't want to be that "weird barefoot person" at the gym. Its a...

    Taloppa Barefoot Sandles

Also they are rather ugly. You could probably design something cheaper and nicer looking. I think they are odd enough looking that you would get a lot of attention from them. Leather straps, or at least thinner canvas would seem to be a better option to not draw attention to your non-shod feet.
