When I spoke to Ash a few days ago, he had 10 people involved which is great. He could do with another 10.

Barefoot running research project at Hull university - get involved

Ash is conducting a research project for his Masters Degree and is looking for barefooters to get involved. His message is below: Barefoot running is captivating the running world; do you run barefoot or in minimal footwear? If so, I could do with your help, I’m performing a study on the effects...

one calf more sore than the other

Hi Stephanie I ended up with a problem in my left calf which I think was actually a tightness in my right hip. I didn't realise that I was favouring my left leg until it was ointed out that my left quad was bigger than my right by a considerable amount. I wasn't aware of it. My point is that it...

    Too much groundfeel?

I am glad that I am not the only one. I have been searching for a thinner and thinner sole for when I am not barefoot. I am running in 3mm Breezy Lites from Vivobarefoot. I can feel almost everything but my form in them changed more than in the Evos with a thicker sole. I reckon when it comes to...

    My running "failure" today

You ran as far as your body would let you and then listened and stopped. How many in shoes would have cut their safety valves out of the loop, carried on and been out for months. 18 miles and lived to barefoot another day - Sucess.

Just Don't Want to Train in Shoes

Hey Fresca It sounds like you are doing all the right things. I have just carried my Vivobarefoot shoes all the way round my run this morning. I couldn't face putting them on. I recently ran a 6 mile race with another barefooter. I carried shoes in my waistband and he didn't. He was just further...

    Walking harder than running?

Totally agree. It is like trying to skip slow rather than tring to skip fast. Much harder. www.barefootbeginner.com

    First barefoot run

Hi Good to see someone else making the transition. I have been blogging my journey and now have a golden rule. I don't run any further in shoes of any sort than I can manage barefoot. The shoes just help me run on terrain that my feet can't handle yet. Problem is, it meant that I had to drop my...

Running stress caused by work activities

For me running irons out all the peaks and troughs that life throws at me. It has taken me years to realise that the periods of my life when I have felt stable coincide with the periods when I have been running injury free. Chris www.barefootbeginner.com

    Hey from Scotland!!

Hi Twisty, I have just added a post about how much to run at my little blog. I agree with Stig, start with short runs, little and often. I have just posted on the subject in the last couple of minutes at http://www.barefootbeginner.com/2012/07/31/becoming-a-barefooter-how-much-should-i-run/...

180 Cadence: When and Why You Should Ignore the Rule

Lots of chat everywhere about cadence at the moment. I started with a metronome and now I don't bother, I feel heavy if i slow my cadence down. Running at about 180 bpm just keeps me floating along and makes me fel like I could go on for a long time. Chris www.barefootbeginner.com

    New here, Learning to Run

Hi Littlebird Welcome to the forum. I am also learning as I go. I have blogged almost every run so far on www.barefootbeginner.com. You could browse through some of the earlier posts. I had forgotten how difficult I found it at first. Regards Chris

    Cadence

I would aim for 180 bpm, take your shoes off and forget about everything else. www.barefootbeginner.com

    Hey from Scotland!!

Hi Twisty I had many of the problems you are talking about. I started barefooting a few months ago and have pretty much posted every run at www.barefootbeginner.com. You would just need to to the first post from May and work your way through. The INOV8s are good shoes. I have developed a golden...
