    Speed!

I think so, too.  I agree, I think so, too. I agree, TJ... when it's dark outside- I can't help but slow down even when I know the terrain is safe. Of course, I think it was the same when I was shod. It's more a fear of falling over something or in a hole then stepping on something sharp/rough.

    Nantucket Firecracker 5k Race Report

Thanks TJ.  I'm a crappy race Thanks TJ. I'm a crappy race reporter but I'll work on it and eventually get better. I always enjoy reading everyone's RRs- they seem to put you there running with them but I just don't have the skills for that. It seems too boring to add actually running...

    Nantucket Firecracker 5k Race Report

My first minimalist race since kicking the Mizunos to the curb. This is a yearly run that I do on vacation but typically it's a leisurely stroll but I was really determined to PR on my first run since losing the shoes. Plus, it's flat and fast and I knew it would be a good one to go hard on...

My Ultraminimal Jingas Banned From Work!

I would say it's just a I would say it's just a matter of comfort as I agree with Adam. If you want some minimalist shoes for work- I second TP Vivo line. I have a pair and love them. They are super comfy and basically as close to bare as they come. Plus, they look like regular shoes...

    Barefoot Interval training

I think you're probably I think you're probably right. I tend to have more TOFP when I'm running faster paces than slower ones. I haven't ramped up the distance yet since going bare for fear of TOFP and blisters. Five miles is the most I've gone and I did that fast. I'll just finish out my...

Are these Minimalist or Reduced Running Shoes?

Hehehe. This thread makes me Hehehe. This thread makes me laugh! There's a lady I work with that wears those things. I just chuckle inside. I'd say something but I'm sure she spent the bulk of her paycheck on them so she might as well feel like she made a good investment. Who am I to...

    Barefoot Interval training

Of course- who am I kidding- Of course- who am I kidding- speed was my primary factor). The track we run on is clay red but we run at the crack of ass so it hasn't gotten hot yet. My instructor thinks I should run the majority of my runs in minimalist shoes or running flats during my...

    Barefoot Interval training

Glen- awesome on the BQer. I Glen- awesome on the BQer. I hope I can someday do the same (and bf no less)! No, I can't imagine 700 on a track at once. 50 is probably the perfect number for a class but for some reason I was shocked there were that many. This is my first class ever and I...

I thought the same thing when I saw people running barefoot... are they crazy? Then I decided to read up on it and here I am- making the transition. How wonderful to read your story. Congratulations on the BQ. That's terrific! :)

    Barefoot Interval training

Thanks Guys.  I appreciate Thanks Guys. I appreciate the advice. I never really thought about the increased speed definitely will induce higher cadence and quick turnover but I should have because every time I focus on increasing my cadence- my speed picks up. Glad to know that you...

    Foot Exercises

Mike-  I've experienced the Mike- I've experienced the same pain and after much searching on the 'net- I concluded as Jimmy did- that it's most likely tendon pain and not muscular. It's painful. I actually thought I was done with it as I took some time off as well and my foot seemed to get...

    Barefoot Interval training

I'm currently taking a speed class on a track and was curious if some of you more experienced BF runners have words of advice doing this type of workout bare? There's probably 50 people taking the class and of course, I'm the only barefoot runner, so I've gotten some typical remarks but...
