I'd rather someone drive barefooted than ion high heels or stilettos.
I drive barefoot all the time. I had to slam on the breaks barefoot and the car stopped just as fast as if I was wearing shoes. It is the leg muscles putting the pressure to the petal, not the shoe.

I understand the concern about slipping. And shoes I suppose offer some protection.
But something like 5” high heels and platform shoes seems soooper dangerous

I like to drive barefoot, but haven't thought about doing it much lately. The only way I can think for a foot to slip off a pedal is if your foot is really sweaty and the brake and gas (and clutch, if you have one) are very slick. But I've never had pedals that were slick, and why would my feet sweat while driving?
