Grantham runner to run London Marathon barefoot in memory of his mother

A runner from Grantham will be running the London Marathon barefoot in aid of Cancer Research.

Steven Smith will also be wearing a weighted vest whilst he runs the marathon in the capital city on Sunday October 2.​

Steven said: "The whole concept about the barefooted weighted vest marathon run was I lost my mother three years ago to cancer, so I’ve been on an adventure pilgrimage of late raising money for charity’s while doing crazy stunts.

Steven, the barefoot runner to be, commented, "The barefoot represents the pain cancer patients have to go through," and that his running barefoot is a "crazy stunt."

I would think the pain of cancer would be much worse, and if you have conditioned your soles and body to run 26 miles barefoot, it won't be painful at all.

I got to admire even more people running long distances because it requires a lot of dedication and effort. Being on your feet running for 3-6 hours is still a feat for me. However my pain came from poor conditioning and not from the fact of being barefoot.
Whatever the catharsis I hope for the best.
