I ran 3.08 miles today (ok....neaaaarrly 5K) completely barefoot and I am SO, SO STOKED!

No blisters, no bruises. My feet are sensitive but very happy. It took me almost 4 months to get here and I'm so glad I made it!!!!

Anyone else remember their first barefoot 5K? :)

Yeah!!!! That is

Yeah!!!! That is fantastic!

My first one was a few weeks ago, and it sucked! I was having IT band issues. Thankfully those cleared up soon afterward, and I've had several good 5k+ runs since then...even a fantastic 5 miler last weekend! Enjoy continuing to slowly increase that mileage (if that's your goal)! :)

My first time was'nt

My first time was'nt measured, I just went by time and my estimated speed. That was just this past Easter weekend.

It gave me the confidence to enter my first ever race, a 5K that was a part of the barefoot runners meetup in Grand Rapids Michigan in May of this year. Most of the others did the 25K signature event, and some did the 10K, but I was so stoked to really run a 5K race. Problem was it was 35 degrees, windy and rainy, so I ran in Feelmax Pankas outdoors for the first time. It was the only time I ran outdoors in footwear for over a decade, and I have'nt done it again........yet.

Unfortunatly winter is coming here to Michigan soon, and I'll have to figure out plan B.

As Beth says, you figure out what you want to do next, I thought it was going to be increasing milage, but I ended up trying to boost my 5K speed instead.I've now run 10 5K races, one two miler, and one 4 miler this year.

Running faster each time has kept the stoke alive for me, but as I peak in that effort I may end up adding distance for motivation.

Congratulations, and may that feeling return with every run!

My first barefoot 5K was

My first barefoot 5K was (well I had two of them. Hee.) I ran a 10K and threw my shoes off at the halfway point finishing completely bare...foot that is. Then my first whole barefoot 5K was in Jacksonville, Florida, called Run for the Pies. It's at night, so that's really neat.

Congrat on your 5k!  Sounds

Congrat on your 5k! Sounds like you played it smart and built slowly, thus the avoidance of blisters and the like. You'll be barefooting 100milers in no time :)
