Pain in the Left Foot

So I did 2.3 miles barefoot on Saturday at around 8:40pm. I felt great other than a stomach cramp. I watered the flowers in the yard then I did a fast pace .66 mile run to see how a faster pace would feel. Everything felt fine after that.

Sunday everything was fine, around 2pm we went shopping and I crammed my feet into my old adidas (I was going to the shoe store so I didn't want to bet on whether they had booties or not so I went shod). When we got home around 5pm I took off the shoes and noticed a pain near the center of the ball of my left foot. It lasted about 2 hours then went away.

Monday everything was fine.

Tuesday (today) I mowed the lawn barefoot and all was well. About an hour after I got done mowing I started getting a dull pain on the top of my first metatarsal right where the joint for the big toe is. It wasn't bad, just a little annoying. I noticed the pain increased and got sharper when I would wiggle my big toe, and even more if I dorsiflexed my toes and my foot at the same time. At about 2pm I put on my VFFs and headed to Costco. By the time I was done at Costco the pain was worse, and hurt with most steps.

Now (6pm) I am having trouble going up an down stairs. When my right foot lands on the next step, my left foot is in pain, enough where it forces me to kind of hobble around.

Any thoughts on this? Do I mess it up mowing? Is this some delayed reaction from my faster pace on Saturday?

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. I have been terrified of getting stress fractures so this is freaking my out a little, though the joint is not sore to the touch, I can even squeeze it (pretty much as hard as I can squeeze) without pain, its just when it has to do some work.

To give a little more info... it has calmed down a little as I have kept off of it. At this point it still hurts to make the toe do anything, though it does not hurt to put weight on it. For example, if I move the toe in any direction and hold it for a few seconds the pain starts to build, but if I stand on just that foot and do a little one-legged squat it feels fine.

Thanks for any help!
