There may be some truth to his comments. But I would not recommend changing how you currently run based solely on them.

His style might fit better someone whose feet haven't ever worn shoes...and who is more than 2M tall.

no. don't listen to him. you met him here i take it and not in Africa? that means he obviously has an american coach who taught him that. i would walk on the balls of your feet though. i do it. it will just take some time for you to learn how to do it.
