Calf pops when running or going up stairs

Wow, I hadn't considered that. Thanks for the info. I've had tight hips too, and it could be that. I'll take a look at the resources you provided, and try to get it solved on my own before I resort to the doc. I get the feeling they'll prescribe rest anyways before proceeding to a sports...

Calf pops when running or going up stairs

When running, in my upper calf, in the center. It is literally a feeling that something is popping. It isn't really painful, just uncomfortable. When standing or going up stairs, it feels more like it's behind my knee, or maybe at the very top of my calf. It happens with each step in those...

Calf pops when running or going up stairs

Last summer/fall I trained for a 50k, and towards the peak of training, I would get slight popping sensation behind the left knee when going uphill/stairs, when my left leg was the leg lifting me. After the race I took it easy for a bit with low mileage and it seemed to go away. Recently, when...

The cartel are also not limited to drugs, but human trafficking, extortion, genocide, bribery, murder, oil theft etc, all involving innocent civilian bystanders, children, police officers, politicians, and obviously the Tarahumara. Drugs are just one source of revenue.

    Diagnosis questions

Thanks for all of the advice. I certainly was disappointed with the PTs diagnosis and treatment. He was definitely down on barefoot running and only offered orthotics with a warning that I'd always have problems if I persisted in running BF. I believe my tendonitis began when I ran a 9 mile...

    Diagnosis questions

Thanks Doc. I'll definitely give these a try and report back. I feel fairly confident that I'm having Peroneal Insertion Tendonitis, so hopefully these will help. Thanks!

Running Book Recommendations (not just BF)

Once a runner is a great fictional running book. So is The Perfect Mile (non-fiction) about the attempts/race to the sub-4:00 mile by Roger Bannister, John Landy, and Wes Santee.

    Diagnosis questions

So I saw a physical therapist on base (read: questionable care...) about the soreness I was having on the outer edge of my right foot on the bottom. It started in October after a longer race than I should have run, and has nagged me since. The PT said I had low arches and because of this the...

Caballo Blanco died from Heart Disease

And who says living to 80 years old is natural? I wouldn't say that having bad quality of life for 10 years or more at the end of your life, prolonged by medicine and technology is natural.

Ok I'm gonna ask- bash at will I can take it

I think you should just really be aware of your body/feet. If they're feeling more sore than usual, or in a new place or way, take it easy until it feels better. Just don't ignore how your feet feel and start slowly. Don't just jump next week to 6 miles 3x a week!

Deadly Broken Glass Dilemma (2012 April) Ken Bob Saxton

Funny video. I was talking to some runners the other day about BRS and one of the questions was along the lines of "What do you do about glass and stuff" and I said, "We like to say the best defense is to not step on it" which got a nice, understanding chuckle. Of course I followed up by...

    Am I really that dogmatic??

No, you're not. I think this is a case of people making up their minds and defending their original position with passion. However, I think what everyone is saying is that there is a time and place for everything. I'm in the military, so I'm not going to insist that shoes are bad and that I'm...

    Pain inner back of knee

I tried in the health forum, but no luck, so I thought I'd see what the docs say! I'd appreciate any help! So last week I went on a 5 day cruise, Saturday-Thursday and didn't run during the cruise. The first time I ran again was Saturday, so I had 7 days off. I had no injury prior to the...
