    2014 Mileage Club

831 km / 516 miles. I'd say around 40 km in vivobarefoot one, 10 km in vivobarefoot trail freak, and 3 km in VFF. I broke the 500 miles barrier!

Mileage reporting 27th week of 2014

10k in only a pair of running shorts. Some people looked scared, others blushed, others again seemed to find it disgusting. My heel still a bit sore, my technique was bad, and my asthma was lurking beneath the surface, but at least I managed to run in under one hour. Just. On pace to run more...

Mileage reporting 27th week of 2014

5 km. Ended up with a piece of glass in my heel. (Running over the glass wasn't a problem, but as soon as I walked...). Trip to the GP. Anaesthesia. Gynaecological chair (! I don't even know what you call them; the doc needed better working conditions, ie better light.) Surprisingly long for the...

    Mileage reporting 24th week 2014

15 km, slow and steady. Some pull-ups along the way. (Yes, en courant; I call them flying pull-ups :)). Lots of comments about my lack of shoes. Perfect weather. Good times.

    Mileage reporting 24th week 2014

A sudden surge in BFR after having scaled mount North Cape. 10k every other day the last days, 4 runs in all, and already looking forward to my next run the day after tomorrow. I even challenged everyone I know to the 100 pushups challenge -- embarrassingly enough, my not-so-trained brother is...

    North Cape

So, after one lecture about swearing and before the next, halfway through my tour of Finnmark, I drove up to North Cape to run as far north as one possibly can in Europe. Image here. I managed 6 kilometres in 2-3 degrees C, with tail wind the first half (easy) and head wind and snow and...

    True story

TJ: if I saw 100 other runners before and after the race, and their feet, and could stop and have a chat, the odds was 1:300 of meeting one other bfer. No, wait, the probability was higher, since there were two from bfrs. So... 1 in 150? (Calculating odds were never my strength in maths) Does...

I live here: we'll stay for two more years before moving back to Norway. (Jeg har bodd her siden august og begynner endelig å skjønne dansk...)

No, I ran into him. And Mikkel, did that Swedish guy grab your shoulder from behind at the finish line...?

    True story

My goal; 2.00.00. My time: 2.00.31. Other than that, a fantastic race, 30000 runners, lots of nice comments about my bare feet. I saw at least two other bfers; on of them Arcticduplo. They both ran under two hours.

    True story

A kidney donation cured my man flu and made me start in today's half marathon world championships. http://onoldage.wordpress.com/2014/03/28/day-87-a-kidney-transplant-cured-my-man-flu/

    Runner's high

You make sense, Longboard, and I do agree (the best part of spring has been walking barefoot again). I don't find walking barefoot painful. But I sometimes find that running on gravel somehow heightens the feeling of euphoria afterwards. As if the slight pain has made my body produce endorphins...

    Runner's high

It might have been discussed earlier, but I couldn't find anything, so I'll ask: if runner's high is connected with the release of endorphins, and endorphins are being released at a higher rate when you run barefoot (because of the sensory feedback sometimes bordering on pain), does that mean...

    Guinness, anyone?

Is ice colder? In my very limited experience I would say so. At least I seem to remember ice was more unpleasant than packed snow... (I need more experience.) Do you think that frostbite is inevitable when you run on snow for two hours?

    Guinness, anyone?

(No, not the beer, the record book.) In an attack of hubris I wrote in the latest Kondis that next winter, I'll run a half marathon barefoot. More than that, I'll run it in sub-zero temperature. More than that, I'll run it on ice and snow -- and in doing so, I'll be the proud owner of a...

    Mileage Reporting 4th Week 2014

1 km in snow, and with more snow coming from above, one toe turned white, I played it safe. Will try again tomorrow.
