Finally! A Podiatrist Practicing Since '76 Speaks Truth!

Good info. The Mythbusters did an episode about fuel saving driving techniques and they proved most of those suggestions. ... But I was hoping to read about all the benefits of driving barefoot. ;)

Great picture, Jen! Good luck with the restart. Hiking is a great way to get back on track.

    Mileage reporting 17th week 2014

Yesterday I planned to do a little drinking then a little hiking. Only made it as far as the drinking. Today I got in a 2.5 mile hike (with a bit of running) at lunch time.

    Anyone drink and hike?

I planned to do just that yesterday -- But I only got as far as the drinking, never made it to the hike.

    Mileage reporting 16th week 2014

4 mile bike ride with the kids today -- Which doesn't sound like much until you understand that my son is still learning to ride his first bike with gears and he's still about 1/2" too short for it. That means that I have to stop at every hill and get off my bike to help him get restarted...

    Mileage reporting 16th week 2014

6 mile group hike in the rain today. Temps were in the mid to high 40s (°F) which is right at my limit for BF hiking in wet conditions. I was fine for most of the first mile until we had to wade through a long section where the trail was mostly submerged. At that point I opted to slip on my...

    Mileage reporting 16th week 2014

Hi everyone! Wow, I've been away a long time. I've been active and barefoot, but I've not been running much over the last couple of years which is the reason for my absence. I recently signed up to do a charity event called the Ultimate Hike in late June -- a 28.3 mile one-day hike raising...

Has anyone here done the Ultimate Hike? (or ever hike Foothills Trail in NC/SC barefoot?)

Thanks, Sid! It never occurred to me to do an image search for the trail. That's very helpful. I registered today! Wish me luck! Peace, Karen

Has anyone here done the Ultimate Hike? (or ever hike Foothills Trail in NC/SC barefoot?)

Awww. So nice to be missed. I miss you all, too. I'm doing well and so is the family (thanks for asking, Longboard). I almost never run anymore so I haven't been around here much. I'm doing a lot more hiking these days and, as noted above, I'm considering training for an ultra...

Has anyone here done the Ultimate Hike? (or ever hike Foothills Trail in NC/SC barefoot?)

I'm considering signing up to do the Ultimate Hike this summer. If I do, I'll be hiking barefoot (as always). Ultimate Hike is a fundraiser event for CureSearch to benefit childrens' cancer research. The event (there are 4 this year) is a 20-30 mile one-day hike. In my case, if I decide to...

But since their wings have got rusted, you know, the angels wanna wear my red barefoot shoes.

Would you enjoy running if it wasn't for barefoot running?

As my daughter says, "Shoes spoil running." :) I only run for the fun of it and I only find it fun if I'm barefoot. Peace, Karen

    Barefoot Gym

Thanks for the welcome back, TJ. I saw the article linked on Longboard's FB page. He posted it right around the same time I found the gym. Made me think of all of you here when my trainer showed up in his VFFs today. :) Peace, Karen

    Barefoot Gym

I recently started powerlifting and decided I wanted to work with a personal trainer to help me with proper lifting form. I looked around and found a local gym focused on free weights with great rates. When I contacted the gym to ask about training I inquired regarding their shoe policy...

What beer are you drinking tonight? For the new forum...

I'm sticking with wine this evening. Working on a bottle of Barbera d'Alba. Thanks for encouraging me to stop by tonight, Longboard. I'm still around. LB, you'll enjoy this story... The manager at a local restaurant that I frequent told me he had a customer complain to him last week about...

    Going Vegan

I've tried both vegetarian and vegan, though I found I did much better with a pesco-vegetarian variation. If you want to go this route with a focus on reducing processed foods and junk foods I recommend the writings of Dr. Andrew Weil. http://www.drweil.com/ His book, 8 Weeks To Optimum...
