"Men, younger runners and those who consider themselves to be “elite” are the most likely to strip their shoes. Funny, sounds like switching to barefoot running might just go hand-in-hand with a touch of hubris."

I've found the people here on BRS to be a fairly unassuming lot. Do other BFR forums attract more of the hubristic sort?

Well, one out of three ain't bad, I guess. I'm a man - not so young, and certainly not "elite".
The statistics seem about right in my experience. I hosted a barefoot running clinic at one of our local runners club meetings about a year and a half ago - about 40 people at the meeting; 15 participated in the clinic; 2 or 3 have continued running bf or minimal-shod.

Since there was only a 13% response rate My assumption would be that those who are interested in barefoot running would have been more apt to complete it. My guess would be that if there was more response you'd find the % of people interested/attempted barefoot running would decrease.
I'd like to see the survey.
