Nice Henry. I will be trying that out for the next couple of weeks. Tried some speed work on on rubber track that tore up my feet. I have a huge blister now that I am having to heal up right now. :(

get a hand gloves that have a good elasticity on the wrist and feet snugly on your feet. elastic wrist prevents it from slipping out. Its hard to believe we can actually use hand gloves on our feet to run w/ barefoot feel. Tell us how it goes. Some of my friends on our group run have tried it and it amazingly works well for them.

Its an elastic strap I sewed to keep it from slipping out. I got the hand gloves from dollorama. Its made by Duramax Pro. its a winter hand gloves industrial quality.Hand gloves has elastic part on the wrist and when you slip it in your feet the wrist elastic part go right on the arc of the feet which hug your feet. It has a 1mm rubber dip on the palm w/c goes to the sole of feet.
It really works I run on it last Oct.14 Scotia Toronto marathon and still looks brand new w/ added training km on it. Only cost 3$.
Really feels barefoot and I can run on rough asphalt, cold, hot pavement.
Just cut the excess finger part to fit your toes.
Saw 3 barefoot runners including Alan T who run his first barefoot marathon.

@ yow, get an elastic strap ( garter ) that is wider ( 1 inch or so) narrow one tend to pinch at point of contact.

Very cool Henry --- I tired making Plasti-Dip socks last winter. I found they shrank too much to be comfortable running.

I gave Alan T the duct tape version and he loves it, wait till he try the plasti-dip version. Its just amazing I can run on regular road and so close to barefoot feel.

Hey the Canucks are coming out the woodwork. Hello James and Martin. We missed the two of you. How has 2012 been, for you?

I've been running shorter distances this year too. My longest was 19k, granted that was at 2°C. Bob, Dutchie, and Henry have been putting on a lot of miles.

Good to hear from the two of you. Don't be strangers ;)

While we are confessing... My name's Nathan, and I have been an inactive Barefoot Runners Society Canada Chapter peruser. I've been bombarded with Canada Chapter BRS emails over the past 24 hours, a reminder that I miss being a part of this community. Although life gets a little crazy, I hope to get back here a little more often.

btw, Barefooting Bob, we must have been just 'feet' away from each other at the starting line of the Great Canadian Death Race. What an awesome experience! I only tackled the first leg as a last minute fill in for an injured relay team member. Hats off to those of you who soloed... especially in naked feet (mostly). It was fun reading about your adventure in the Death Race magazine and checking out your blog. Cool stuff. Death Race 5 km.jpg

Damn it if I only knew you were out there, we could of made it a Chapter Event. You should come back next year, I am running it solo.

I am still around too, but spend most of my computer time on FB. I've also been busy recruiting. ;-)
There have been more people asking me about getting into barefoot/minimalist running lately.

Lou, are you going to take part in the 2012-2013 Winter Challenge? I see you have two icons already!

Nathan ... did you design the new logo? If yes, I have received many positive comments. It seems more recognizable.

@Lou - Bob's got a good jump start on us, for the Winter Challenge, but temperatures are going to be in the qualifying range all week. Look out 'Peg, here comes Ontario.

@Bob & Nathan -- Looks like you have 2 legs of the Death race covered. I'm sure Miranda or others out west come combine to make a full barefoot entry.

I was tempted enough to go to the website and start browsing through maps. But then I saw the dates. Right in the middle of the big music camp I help run. :(
