Ok, so Santa is bringing you something cool, perhaps running-related. What is it?

Disclaimer: this post spurred by questions from my wife and my lack of any good answers this year. Responses such as "some VFFs of the right size would be nice, but I can't stand the toes..." or "oh maybe some Zem 360s, but I already have some huarache/sock combos which would be just as good..." have been typical. Seems like for every thing I think I'd like there is a perfectly valid reason not to ask Santa for it. ;)

A trip to Puerto Vallarta

A trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- A massage- Icebreaker

- A massage

- Icebreaker merino wool tank top. The few Icebreaker pieces I have are so good for running, traveling and everyday wear that I would love more.(http://icebreaker.com)

- CDs by The Submarines. Mary recommended that on DM and after listening to their music I added it to my wish list, even if I don't listen to music while running.

- Snow boots. If I could find minimalist boots suitable for walking in the snow I would add that to my wishlist. My old boots fell apart last winter. For running I wear wool socks+neoprene scuba boots but i need something to shovel, play in the snow with the kids, etc

...and I have 1 month to find more.

Sloutre,you mentioned

Sloutre,

you mentioned minimalist snow boots, you might want to look into a pair of mukluks, they are great for walking in the snow (used for hundreds of years by native americans, etc for winter wear). Nothing like them I used them to run across a frozen lake last winter.

BF Bob, where did you get

BF Bob, where did you get your mukluks? How much should I expect to pay for a pair that will last me several year?

I know I don't want these with their 9 cm wedge: http://www.muklukstore.com/us/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=176&cat=24

These seem more reasonable: http://shop.mukluks.com/Traditional-Chocolate-Brown-Mukluks/productinfo/TRDBRN/

I want to make sure I buy traditional, function oriented mukluks, not fashion show imitations.

The only thing that's on my

The only thing that's on my christmas wish list is for my family and I to have safe drive over to Montana. Looking forward to seeing all my family that I rarely get to see anymore. Looking forward to a white christmas too! I miss the snow at christmas, we barely get any snow here in Oregon, let alone on christmas. Just doesn't feel like christmas without snow.

Abide, thanks for the link, I

Abide, thanks for the link, I hadn't checked their website in a while. They even have a similar model for women.

Between these and the mukluks I see snow boots in my future....now let it snow!

Well the simple answer to that question is my wife made mine. See pic below this is Nicole and I prior to running across Lake Winnipeg in March. We were wearing matching mukaluks. They are modelled off the original muckluks that were utilized by the aboriginals. I will see if I can dig up a better close up picture and post later.

You can also check out my blog post about the run across the lake as well the mukluks performed great, no issues with cold at all. http://winnipegbarefootrunners.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

I couldnt think of anything I

I couldnt think of anything I wanted for Xmas / Bday (Their both in December) and couldnt really think of anything. Maybe some Merrells or Zem 360's. But I wouldnt ever wear the Zems since I never wear my VFFs or Huaraches. The Merrells could be a great everyday shoe though.... And then I read the posting here about the Sports Kilt and Im now wanting one again... But I want to test fit it first, and I hate making online purchases. Oh, I do know for sure that I want a few good books!

So I am totally new to all of this... I see several people posting about wanting kilts. What's the thought behind wearing a kilt?

Not sure about everybody else but I have 2 kilts that I utilize quite often for running events. Besides the fact that I am Scottish, I really enjoy the freedom of the kilt (no pun intended), they are really comfortable besides the obvious fashion statement.

Now, I have a buddy who swears by compression shorts. I've never used them, do they help with monkey butt, or chaffage of the butt? Since increasing my mileage this week I've had Monkey Butt horribly bad. I would think that compression shorts would squeeze the cheeks closer together making it easier for the rubbing that causes Monkey Butt. Is this a false thought? Any help is greatly appreciated.
