Good Evening, Anyone in the central New York area who is a barefoot or minimalist runner, please let me know. Always looking for local support (very little here)....!
Welcome, Steve. You probably want to try our New York chapter. There are quite a few folks in it in various locations, and they are generally quick to respond and help connect you with anybody who might be near you. Glad to have you with us.
Also, I wish everybody would put their location on their profile page so we can be appropriately sympathetic or jealous.
Hi Everyone! Glad to find this site! I live close to Athens GA and the last few years gotten into barefoot running, did a 5k Barefoot and had a great time for me 26:24.. My goal is to run a half completely barefoot, I've done one in the Fila Skeltoes and felt great, Any suggestions on getting my feet tough enough for a half?
j. paul, I think the key to getting your feet in shape is to spend enough time running barefoot with appropriate recovery scheduled in between - being careful not to overdo it.
Welcome to the crew, JP. Like JosephTree said, there are no shortcuts, and the recovery/consolidation time between BF runs is critical, especially early on.
Just wanted to hi, good to be here, Have been running in vibrams, and barefoot when i can. I hope to learn from you guys. and in the Ashford, Middlesex. UK. Not seen anyone in the area barefoot, but would love to run/ train with others. I like trail running and Tough Mudder type events and have booked to run the Brighton Marathon 2015 .
I live in Kansas City Missouri area. I began wearing VFF to deal with long periods of standing. Soon after I tried running in them. That in turn led to trying barefoot a couple years ago. Before minimalist and barefooting, I hadn't ever run more than 2 miles. I just had my first 20 miler this week. No ill after effects, so I expect to do my first bf marathon soon.
Great stuff, Dan! Welcome to the crew. We're glad you've joined us. This is a great place to get your questions answered by folks who have been at this a long time and have accrued invaluable experience. Enjoy!
Hi everyone! I'm new, and I have questions! Where is the best place to ask one about how to strength-train for barefoot running? I've just barely begun, and feeling strong and loving it so far.
