Could be interesting, though I'm not sure that I'd put many miles in. I'd be in huaraches or NB minimus's. Too much construction in the neighborhood to actually be barefoot. :/

At the end of June, I fell off my kick scooter and smashed my right big toe, breaking the bone and losing the nail. For me, the scooter is probably not a barefoot activity from now on, and I'm going to definitely wear a helmet! I hope the toe will be usable again for running by the middle of August, because I'm planning to start running for my 10 mile round-trip commute to work.

That's awesome. I was contemplating doing the same, though I commute 25 miles one way each day.

Roughly two marathons a day? Hell, I'm still working on getting my calf muscles used to 5k's! (baby steps, Jason, baby steps.)

Well, I won't be putting 200 in for the month, but I'm in. I'm still trying to get used to the fact that a 5k pulverizes my calf muscles. So I've been running every other day or two days.

Maybe it doesn't help that I run a lap or two, then sprint for half a lap, then run till my batteries recharge for another sprint. I dunno. Practice makes perfect I guess.

I've been in the transitioning for almost three months now, I've had several minor injuries along the way, but I really feel I'm almost over that final hill (as far as my body being back to the shape nature intended, before shoes softened it up)

(I love it when my legs feel rested up after a run, I feel like a million bucks, and I just want to run some more!)

Thanks for Jumping in Straif! So far its just us down-staters. If We don't get some help from Chicago, I will have to start insulting the Windy City daily until we get some participation!!! LOL.

Heheh, actually, I'm an up-stater, but definitely not from Chicago.

Yeah, I ran 3 miles this morning. When I got back in I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to walk on the track with me, because I wanted to do some sprints.

    Bad idea.

We only ended up doing about another mile and three quarters, because, on one of my sprints, I think I pulled my right groin (again). Sprinting, for me, has become my bane! I just can't catch a break with it! I hadn't felt so much as a slight twinge in my groin for over a month; nothing. But, it definitely pulled today. After I felt the pull, I tried to run just a regular pace on it to see where it was at, and, it's pretty tender. Oh well, back to the waiting game.

I can still walk, so I'll still be contributing to the contest. I already put my name up on that spreadsheet.

    Godspeed, good sir!

Far western Chicago burbs (near Aurora,IL) Checking in... Will participate in the game.

Haven't been a good/active participant on the site and/or IL chapter as of late - fell and gave myself a nasty deltoid ankle sprain in April 2013 and still not fully recovered - the good news now is I only have pain when standing still for a long time so guess I have to keep moving.

Only getting between 15 and 25 miles a week with 1/4 barefoot and 3/4 Luna huraches and then a fair amount of crossramp at my gym on the side to keep my cardio endurance while giving my ankle some recovery time.

On Aug 2, I actually got my first ever placing medal in a race in my Lunas (3rd in age group in a local 10k) so hopefully whatever this ad hoc recovery program I'm on is working.

Heh, walked two miles around town with girlfriend whilst barefoot today.

It's aggravating having a pulled groin. It's sneaky. The pain is very dormant; you almost feel all healed up at times, but, then you do a little hop skip up a small incline and then BAM!!!! Instantly reminded by your body to take a chill pill.

    And thus the walks continue.

Hang in. If you saw my run log during my transition, you'd see entry after entry... "Injury Recovery Rest Day".

You're doing a great job by the way!

And by the look of your picture you have some insane arches! Haha.

Regardless, very impressive, your mileage is where I hope to be at some day.

UK is in first now. Lotta runners. Good on em! Led by Sir Paul McCartney himself! (j/k :D)

Mokaman, from Georgia, by far has the most miles. Looking at 79.8 as of this writing. Must be part Tarahumaran.

I managed to squeak out 4 miles today; my groin healed up well enough to run a decent pace.

Last weekend was a cycle down week (and cub scout camp), I should be able to hang some miles on them tomorrow.

Nice miles this weekend! Illinois is second now!

I actually surprised myself when I got back in and charted my route on Wikimapia. 4.7 miles. Felt pretty effortless given the circumstances.

And NO calf pain this time! I shortened my stride and tried the ol' 180 steps a minute pace. I feel great. Well, my soles are a little sore, but other than that, tip-top!
