Ok, been barefoot running and walking for a couple of months now. But I honestly think I might have found my nemesis. I can walk and kind of run on gravel, wood chips and trails. But I have just found ACORNS. OMG they are the devils work and should never have been placed on this earth. Has anyone else found anything as bad as these little devils
With you on that one... The occasional tiny tiny sharp stones you sometimes get strewn across an otherwise flat road can be quite irritating too..
Whats a Goat head TJ ? Other than the obvious but I can't see how you could stand on a goats head......
Goat's head: an aggressive and hardy invasive species, tribulus terrestris is widely known as a noxious weed because of its small woody fruit – the bur – having long sharp and strong spines which easily penetrate surfaces such as the bare feet or thin shoes of crop workers and other pedestrians, the rubber of bicycle tires, and the mouths and skin of grazing animals. AKA bindii, bullhead, burra gokharu, bhakhdi, caltrop, small caltrops, cat's-head, devil's eyelashes, devil's-thorn, devil's-weed, puncture vine, and tackweed.
Thanks for the explanation Steve... I just googled it, don’t think we have it here in the UK. Did you know that they make this out of it ???? Horny Goat Weed is a has been used as a powerful, natural aphrodisiac for hundreds of years. The unusual use for this plant was discovered by a farmer in China many years ago. He noticed an increase in sexual behaviour in some of his goats, and realised that these goats were eating the weed Epimedium. The weed thus became known as "Horny Goat Weed" and has since been used by both men and women to boost sexual activity and stamina ever since. Not hit the poop bit yet but sure I will at some point. Plus we have loads of horses in my area so it could get messy at some point lol.
Roots. Laying there in disquieting wait...then...when you least expect it...the sinister wraiths come to life, reaching out to trip you up and show you the truth of what gravity does to those who accidentally achieve temporary flight status.
I think dog poop is just a different kind of hazard... generally there's no "...ouch!" with that -more just stickiness and goo...
Another one I’m not too fond of is Poplar (a.k.a. Cottonwood) tree buds- the sticky resin takes determination to get off the feet. I’ve been using GoJo wipes but I’m going to try Coconut Oil. Interesting article about them-https://featherandfrond.org/blog/2016/10/26/blessings-from-the-wind-cottonwood-oil-and-salv.
I hate gravel..... especially smaller loose stones or gravel road. Also bad tar roads... And in other places of South Africa are dubbeltjies (see below). https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url...ved=0CA0QjhxqFwoTCPjv_ZPZvesCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD
Hmm... "Think of it as “nature’s aspirin"... Being naive, I thought asprin was "natural". Then I went and looked on Wiki (it's on the internet, so it must be true), and I found that although it was originally produced from the willow tree, it's now fabricated artificially. *Sigh*. I hate losing my innocence.
