Whacked a root pretty hard yesterday. Was in VFF's. Didn't think much of it, just a little sore. This morning it still doesn't feel great, and it's bruised pretty good. It was a nice run besides that. Hope everyone is doing well. It's almost Spring!

Damn. Sorry to hear that. Think you can tape it up and still run?

I probably could, but I'm going to give it a week to see if it heals up. Still barefoot dog walking in the park with my wife, so I'm not totally out of action.

Yep, that's what mine looked like, all bruisy and swollen. Buddy tape it to the next one. It will heal more quickly if you don't run on it for a few weeks (advice I got from the podiatrist).

Thanks. I taped it and it helped some. It hurts worse in shoes. Unfortunately I have to be in them to work.

Ouch!... That looks like it's going to be uncomfortable for a few days. Hope it's nothing worse than a bruise...

I broke my big toe in September and I'm just now getting back to it. It would have taken about 4 weeks when I was young...

I think it may be just a bad bruise. I would imagine a broken bone would be a lot more painful.

I actually had a coworker lecture me today about running.

"See, I told you. This is what happens when you run barefoot or in those monkey shoes of yours."

I wonder how people think our ancestors got around for the first couple of million years. Smh.

Toe is feeling a lot better today, btw.

Technicaly you broke toe in shoes. I broke 5th toe in trail competition using vibram kso evo last september (i made x ray). In shoes it was painfool for 3 weeks, but I found solution - no shoes at all. So i started run barefoot on inner side of foot 4 days after accident. 5th toe not so important :)

To avoid that situation in future, I glued 4th and 5th toe together in vibrams.

1st january I broke 4th toe running barefoot. Was busy speaking with running partner and didn't see dangers. On broken 4th toe was more difficult to run, then on 5th. So I took 10 days off.

If you can walk whithout pain after couple days, I think your toe not broken.

Still hurts to walk on, but it's getting better. I actually was distracted when this happened. I had parked my car on the other side of the lake and had just come to a clearing where I could see it. I was looking to make sure it was still there, and wham! I guess that's what I get for not being in the moment.

Actually, yes. This park has some great trails, but the parking lot is out of the way and has kind of a shady reputation. It's rare to have something go down in broad daylight, but not unheard of. It's other parking lot which is even more off the beaten path had to be shut down because it was often used for intimate wilderness hookups, if you know what I mean.

I used to run in a park in Berkeley and often noted fairly fashionable men every now and again loitering about. Now this was in the neighborhood of a few biotech companies, so while they were overdressed for a day at the park they weren’t completely out of line...could have been folks on their lunch break. Then, I learned it was a pick up spot and the lightbulb went on. And not a one of them propositioned me! Bastages! :D

Well, the good news is that the city has some planned improvements that involve shutting down the two shady parking lots, which are both off of a busy highway, and building a new access area on the other side of the park. Right now you have to take your life into your own hands entering or exiting on this highway. I don't know if this will solve the "love bird" problem, but at least it will be safer.

I feel your pain! Them roots can be nasty! Did the same thing a couple of years ago, didn't feel too bad at first, but once I got home and the adrenaline dumped, it hurt like hell!

Yeah, but I've learned my lesson. Stay in the moment and watch where you step!
