The study on stability shoes being worse for overpronators?

I seem to remember a study earlier this year that showed that some "overpronators" did worse and had more injuries in stability shoes than a control group using neutral shoes. But now I can't find it. Does anyone remember this, and can link it for me, or did I just dream that one up?

Thanks folks!

Stomper, have these studies

Stomper, have these studies been added to the Library?

TJ, I was aware of these

TJ, I was aware of these kinds of studies, but I didn't include them in the Library because of an editorial perspective I was taking.

I thought: these kind of things are about the difference between shoe designs and the not the difference between barefoot/minimal and going shod. I don't want the list of resources to become dominated by studies of shoes vs. shoes, which isn't our main interest.

However, I would say that these studies throw into doubt a whole premise of the running shoe industry, which is injuries can be prevented by assigning shoes based on apparent pronation of the foot. So they are definitely relevant to the question of whether shoes cause injuries.

I'll add a few of these kinds of studies to the academic resources list and I'll add a summary sentence to the main page.

Thank you, Stomper.  That is

Thank you, Stomper. That is what I was going for.

I can personally attest to

I can personally attest to this. I had troubles with shin splints for years (and almost quit running because of it). After finally going to a podiatrist I was given custom orthotics and a follow-up trip to a running store where I bought "motion-control" shoes. Well, after running in them for a while, I honestly never had worse shin splints in my life.

Running barefoot, in VFFs, or Free 3.0s now? No pain at all.
