Silver Lake trail covers about 1.8 miles of paved path with the majority surrounding the lake itself while the rest winds through residential areas. The pavement is fairly smooth, with only a few rougher areas for new barefoot runners. This review is in the fall, so the pavement has some regular debris such as leaves, twigs, and pine needles as well as Silver Lake's notorious goose poop, but most was pretty avoidable and the paths appear as though they are regularly cleaned. The fall scenery is amazing as always since most of the lake has a good circling of deciduous trees and some bridges, as well as being family friendly with 3 playgrounds. Only downside is the geese if you have a problem with up close and personal fowl, but they move if you keep a constant pace and only really bother you if they think you have food. Most barefooters will be fine ^_^ There is very little change in elevation, except for a side path you can take underbridge as an option, and overall a good course for most beginners.
