A running friend of mine (shod runner) told me that he broke his foot. More specifically he has chipped his sesmoid bone (in the ball) on his foot. His podiatrist told him that he may not be able to run again.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge on this type of injury. My hope is that running is not out of the question for him permanently. Also, I'd like to offer barefoot/minimalist as an option if it is a reasonable choice.

I don't know anything about

I don't know anything about this injury. I know that the sesmoid bone is a floating bone not connected to anything. All I could tell him is that he will never know if he can run barefoot without pain from this injury unless he tries it.
