Running and hiking Barefoot in and around Flagstaff has given me a new level of respect for our mountainous terain. I already knew we have some of the gnarliest terrian in the state but my goodness you REALLY notice every rock, bramble, spiky pine cone & thorny bush when your fully barefoot.

I'm hoping I can adjust my landing to help soften the impact and grow some thick caveman callouses to once again enjoy my long runs through our high Aspen & Pondorosa Pine forest.

Hey StingRey. I live in Southwest Utah, but I am a member of your Chapter because I love N. Arizona and try to visit as much as possible. I have done some barefoot hiking in the Grand Canyon but you are right about your area being rocky. Have as much fun as you can barefoot, but don't let that limit you. It is better to be out in the hills shod than not at all.
