Crowdsourcing here: Can anyone name runners who ran barefoot in the Olympics besides Abebe Bikila and Zola Budd? Clarifying - 1900s to now. I'm not asking about the ancient Greeks :)

    Ron Hill in Mexico in 1968, 10 000 m

found both (and many others) in Ken Bob Saxton book "barefoot running step by step"

How about this one, it is the forerunner to the Commonwealth Games, the Empire Games 1950.
English runner Holden runs the latter half of the marathon barefoot as his shoes are soaked. He wins the race in around 2:30

    Regards

Notice that thera are no Nike waffle soles back then, just thin leather shoes. They would be called barefoot shoes these days.

Nice find, Neil! People back then must have thought he was a nut for not dropping out! Ha!

Sorta similar to why Abebe ran barefoot in the Olympics too, now that I think of it.

His style doesn't change much between wearing shoes and running barefoot which shows the shoes didn't alter his gait.
    Just love the dramatic music.
