The East Ridge trail lies in Redwood Regional Park. It is a well traveled trail by hikers, mountain bikers, dog walkers and shod runners. The beginning of the trail is not too barefoot friendly as it is a fire trail, very wide with gravel due to lots of traffic. You can run and walk on it but it is not ideal. After about a mile it becomes a nice dirt trail and is very barefoot friendly the trail is about 3.5 miles long and ends at the Pinehurst gate staging area. To cut around the "bad" part in the beginning of the trail you can take the Phillips Loop after about 250 yards at your right hand side. Which is a smaller and quieter trail it runs parallel to the East Ridge trail until it merges with it. The Phillips Loop is a bit more technical then the East Ridge trail but not too hard, the good thing is there is no gravel.
Both trails are good for beginner/intermediate bare-footers who want to break into the barefoot trail running.
