I added this event to the New York Chapter's home page earlier, so everyone in that group should have received an email with a link back to the site to get all the info.

Hi TJ, LPJ ,
I also added threads about it in the forums of New York and New Jersey, hope that is OK.
Jason Im signed up and very excited to meet you and I believe you may do a clinic, is that true? I do hope so - please bring the famous kilt!! Looking forward to a great weekend .
John has organised some fantastic events for the NYC barefooters so far and this promises to be the best yet!!
That's perfectly fine,
That's perfectly fine, Harrino. We're looking for more New York Chapter Presidents too, BTW, if you're interested...

I am in! I'll try to attend the clinics also. I hope I'll get lots of practical knowledge to overcome some issues.

Where do the proceeds from the $35 registration fee go?
Not that there's a chance I can make this but I'm curious since I thought this started out as a freebie event.

It did start out as a freebie. I think since you get a tee shirt, that's where some of the money goes. Then there are awards, yes, barefoot running awards.
BTW, Jason, I would like a complete report from you and/or whomever from the BRS attends for the News Show.

Shacky- I think the registration fee is to cover the growing expenses. John, the organizer, started pretty small. It has since snowballed into a huge event (he's getting Ted to come from Seattle).
As far as the clinic- that has grown, too. Originally it was going to be a talk given by Dr. Dan, Erwan, and myself. Now Daniel Howell and Ted will be participating, too. I haven't gotten the updated clinic plans yet, but I do know Terra Plana has offered to use their NYC store to host the clinic.

Just put my $35 fee in the mail yesterday, so it's official. I'm rolling solo to this event.

I'm coming! I just registered.
We found a place to crash in the old neighborhood, and the kids are SOOO excited to go to NYC!

A large chunk of them have to go to renting the ferry to get the runners to the island! (The roads are supposed to be clear of runners before the first scheduled free ferry).
John tells me that the interest level is high, and entries are coming in rapidly, but it is extremely unlikely that the event will come close to breaking even.
It is going to be fun though!

Sounds like a blast! Hope you al have a great run. Can't wait to read the reports.

I've registered. I'm driving to NYC from Arlington, VA, but I won't be there for the Saturday clinics. I read that some people will do mini clinics after the run. I hope this is the case. I plan to picnic and do lots of hanging around after I finish running. I have only recently started so I will probably only do two laps (maybe three if I feel good).

I am driving up from Raleigh, NC. I haven't decided whether to leave Friday afternoon or Saturday (really early).
Is anyone else from NC going to this thing?

We're leaving Saturday from the kids' swimming lessons (we'll hit the road around 10:45 AM). Have no idea how long it will take to get there, or what we'll do when we arrive. We're couch surfing in Washington Heights.
We're not entirely sure what we'll be up to when we get there. We lived in NYC for a number of years, and may go see friends. HOWEVER, it seems like Central Park on the upper west side is where we'd want to spend a Saturday afternoon anyway. My 7 year old ecowarrior needs a pair of vegan Terra Planas in a bad way, so swinging by the store might be on the agenda.
Nice meeting you on Sunday
Nice meeting you on Sunday SillyC!
Overall the run was a blast! I did the running clinic in Central Park, the Lieberman lecture, and met a bunch of great people. My guess is that next year will be bigger.

There are two really good NYC Barefoot Run race reports on the BRS's home page News Show with lots of pictures. Be sure to check them out!
