Normoweight as a minority?

I just realised that I told a runner lady from work that she could eat a piece of cake and run it off yesterday. I hope she took it as a compliment.
Oh, I've been on the receiving end of that statement several times. It always stirs up mixed feelings, then causes me to analyze the intention of the speaker, as you can see above.

I might suggest something to the effect of "Why don't you take it home? Put it in the fridge, have it as a snack later." Just because I don't want a piece of cake now, doesn't mean that I won't want it later.

This takes the pressure off the recipient and allows them to graciously accept food from a host/friend/coworker, etc. They they can do with it as they please, have it for dessert, munch on it while watching TV in bed, give it to someone else, or throw it out.
