I'll try it out on Sunday at our church (Methodist), and let you know!

If God accepts you as you are then what does it matter what you wear? I've seen some crazy things worn in our church - we join together with the other local churches and put on a pantomime each year, and yes we do have traditional cross-dressing Dame and principal 'boy' along with whatever the script calls for!

(Jeremiah 1:4-5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you...") So if you were consecrated before you were born, you were set aside for god, and it wasn't whilst you were wearing shoes at that point was it?

I've told people that a good test when selecting a new house of worship is showing up barefoot. If you are rejected or told to wear shoes next time it is a congregation led by hypocrites.
Sure, I understand the concept of wearing your "Sunday Best" out of respect, but if they are not open minded enough to accept that bare feet in a church/temple/synagogue/mosque/whatever are equally a sign of respect then why bother with 'em.

I can understand the respect thing, but for me it's as much about being accepted and accepting people as they are. Not being judgemental. However much you do or don't agree with aspects of somebody else's life, it's no reason to be prejudiced. It's between that person and God, not me and that person.

When I attend church with my wife (twice a year) she insists that I wear dress shoes (ouch!). I pointed out to her that the priest was wearing flip flops under his robe. She said he always does, but I can't.:(

    I feel sorry for you:sorry:
I have no problem being barefoot at my Church no body pays attention, they do notice my barefeet but nobody says a thing. My Church is one of the best really, you come as you are and you're ALWAYS welcome. And that's the truth.

    Good idea.
Maybe I should ride to church on a donkey while wearing a robe, and leave my sandals at the door.:)

Sure.:) I am sure all of the money that goes into the basket is non-discriminatory. (I use that one when someone complains about me being in a store barefoot.)

Sorry was suffering with ManFlu so didn't make it to church to see the reactions locally, so it'll have to wait another week!

I just stay outside when I am barefoot. Sheesh. I coulda made a case, and wanted to sing a song called "take your shoes off moses" but my wife would not let me haha. The old guy who threw the fit is just a controlling old man who thinks barefeet are filthy. I just kick my shoes off the instant I walk outside. sigh....

Maybe it's time to convert to Islam. They're pretty barefoot-friendly folk and they worship the same sky-god. Just a few minor differences about prophets and the use of images.

haha. Largest growing religion in the world....must be the barefoot acceptance propelling it. I had 4 of my soccer players live with me for a year and they were Muslim. It was a great experience. They even went to church with me (no I was not trying to convert them). I think I will just keep working on these guys...convert them to barefoot. We had a very sweet obese woman fall going to the choir Sunday, why you ask?????? She stepped on her sandal and tripped herself. She fell on my flip flop and I had to unshod myself to go to her rescue. I could not stop her fall but I slowed it. When I got her up she said "you may be right....shoes are dangerous."
