Letter from Dr. Mark Cucuzzella NRC Newsletter #163 May 29 2022 On this Memorial Day at a time when our country is fractured in so many ways, we want to bring remembrance to what truly did unify us and the people that made the sacrifices. Freedom wasn't easy and the Freedom’s Run events help us pay homage to the people and the battles that created our Union. Every aspect of our races is built that in mind. We are an event which is by the people and for the people. We don't offer fancy things. Last weekend we had over 600 finishers despite unseasonably brutal heat at the Harpers Ferry Half Marathon/5k. We strongly advised all to run with caution and safety. So many accomplished a goal they set out to achieve. It probably wasn't a speed goal but rather some other goal of perseverance. Freedom’s Run is a nonprofit event co-founded and directed by Lt Col (ret) Mark Cucuzzella who served 29 years in the US Air Force. Dr. Mark holds great pride in his service and is still active in veteran and military causes.
