Hello fellow Barefoot Runners, I have just taken on the presidency of the UK chapter and would like to introduce myself. I am a 100% barefoot runner, based in Norfolk (flat, but not as flat as everyone thinks!). I have been barefoot running for just over a year and have clocked up 1,000+ miles, including a barefoot ‘Everest’ (the longest on record, owing to my less-than-alpine location). I originally set out on the barefoot path just to strengthen my feet, but it has gone on to be about so much more than simple biomechanics - I find the connection to the earth and the natural feel of barefoot running completely exhilarating and I have became a true devotee of, and an advocate for, the sport. Now I’d like to put my enthusiasm to good use in helping to grow and develop the UK chapter of the BRS. I'm keen to see if we can increase our membership and put on more events that bring us together (and get the barefoot word out), but I'm a relative newcomer to the BRS (and to barefoot running as a whole), so I would really appreciate your input and help. I'm really looking forward to getting started and to joining you on a run in the not-too-distant future... Cheers, B
Hi Bjorn, Glad to hear you've picked up the batton -as it were... I'll look out for you if I'm ever across in Norfolk!...
HI Bjorn, Congrats on the UK presidency! If you make to Paris, let me know, we'll go for a good ramble! Christian
Hi Christian, thank you! I'll definitely be in Paris at some point in the near future, so I'll take you up on that offer! Best, B
Fantastic! Paris is GREAT for barefoot running - any distance you want, or more hardcore forays into surrounding countryside to the south, with running sandals... Look forward to meeting you! Christian
Likewise! As a country-dweller I Iook forward to the chance to pound some big city streets (and what a city to do it in!) B
Hi Bjorn, Thank you for taking on the UK chapter. I will spread the word to all the barefoot and minimalist runners I know that the chapter is active again. I may even take up running again myself if the opportunity arises! If you have a Facebook account, and would like to send me your username via direct message, I will add you as an Admin on the BRS UK Facebook page. It is probably easiest to contact me through that page or on Twitter if you need me, as I rarely log in here these days. All the best, and good luck! Cheers, Paul
Thanks Paul, I really appreciate it. And any advice you have based on your own experience will always be welcome... I'll DM you the Facebook info. See you out on the trail, I hope... Thanks again and best regards, B
