Hello Arizona runners. Thank you for letting me join your chapter. My name is Rick Whitelaw. I live in Southern Utah. I love Arizona and look forward to coming over there more often. I had an incredible hike in the Grand Canyon in October and I am thinking about signing up for the Sedona marathon in February. Let me know if any of you come over to Zion, Snow Canyon, or St. George. I am discovering lots of great trails. I also do a lot of skiing and hiking in Brian Head Resort. Rick
Rick- I live here in Flagstaff and am thinking of doing a zion traverse. What time of year do you recommend?
Everett, The only time that the higher trails of Zion are not possible are Dec through March because of snow. The lower trails of Zion are good year round, but can be hot in the summer months. Depending on your route, I would recommend May and October for the best conditions. We are having a late fall over here and most of the trails are still good. I would like to hike in Zion in the next few weeks. I am coming over to your area in early Feb. for the Sedona Marathon and also hope to explore some of the trails there. Also, my friend wants to do another Grand Canyon hike as soon as the North Rim opens. Rick
