More surgery for me!

Good luck TJ. Keep us posted.

Thanks. Update today.

Well, I haven't been dealing with plantar fasciitis these past three years. I have been dealing with tarsal tunnel syndrome. I was wondering why I wasn't healing from PF with the usual treatments! And that explains why those treatments only made "it" feel worse, like foot hell! TTS is much worse than PF and can easily be confused with PF. There are similarities and differences. With TTS, you don't normally have first step of the morning pain as you do with PF, although I did sometimes but not often. With TTS, the pain increases as the day wears on and you are on your feet, whereas with PF, the pain typically (but not always) lessens as the day wears on. This pain is so great, it causes me to sit down several times a day, and the most I can be on my feet is two hours total. With TTS, there's a burning/tingling sensation that runs from your heels to the tips of your toes. TTS interfere with your sleep, where PF is relieved when lying down. So, lucky me once again, I will be having tarsal tunnel release on both feet (there will be a 4" incision under the inner heel to release three ligaments in order to free the three nerves that run through the tarsal tunnel). There is no guarantee I will be able to run again, ever.

Oh, then there's the neuroma surgeries he will be doing on both feet too that I described earlier.

Fun, huh?

Surgical correction for the neuromas and TTS all at the same time or seperate surgeries?
And, is there no PF at all, or is the TTS in addition to it?

It's all at the same time, and if there is PF, it is very slight, but with my inactivity and non-stop rest and 4 months of massage therapy, it just doesn't make sense that I wouldn't heal from PF after 7 months. It's very possible that the nerve impingement in my ankles is also contributing to any PF I might have, but there is definitely TTS.

TTS does sound more complicated than PF! Hopefully it explains all of your problems and the surgeries can address everything you've been suffering from. Seems like one of those pray for the best, prepare for the worst situations. It seems like you're in good hands with this specialist. Good luck!

TJ: Just plowing through all the threads when I got to this one about your surgery. Better late than dead (or is that, better red than never?). Anyway, here's hoping that you are recovering nicely and that the surgery will yield the results you're hoping for. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you, but I'm guessing that you're a pretty determined person, so I hope you'll bounce back soon. And by "bounce," I mean with a nice spring in your (forefoot) step! Cheers!
