    Hello All,

I recently was hired as a server and require all black footwear with a non slip sole. Can anyone provide me with any suggestions? I am awaiting word from Vivobarefoot concerning their footwear, but any input you all can provide is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Clint

    Clint:Vibram Five Fingers

    Clint:

Vibram Five Fingers (several models) come in all black, and the razor-siped sole was originally designed for sailors who needed a good feel for the deck but better traction than wet feet provide. I don't know about oil or other chemical slip resistance on these, but most of my Army and industrial boots over the years that were slip resistant came with a Vibram sole.

i wore sprints and kso's and

i wore sprints and kso's and they aren't slip resistant. neither are Merrell TG. what might be worth looking into are some soft star even though they aren't dressy they are minimalist and i think the soles may be tackier. on a good note i know Stem footwear will be releasing a black shoe with a tacky sole, next spring.

    What about the black Vibram

What about the black Vibram FiveFinger Treks? Those have some serious grippy soles.

    Guys,Thanks for all of your

    Guys,

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am not sure that the Five Fingers would be acceptable, given the unwarranted attention they can garner as a result of their aesthetics. I am hoping to hear back from Vivobarefoot concerning their sole, as well as strongly considering Softstar. Tomorrow I am going to contact Vibram Five Fingers, as they collaborated with TerraPlana in developing the sole material for the Men's Hamilton. If nothing else, this is certainly a learning process. If there are any more suggestions keep them coming. As well, I will update you all once I hear from Vivobarefoot and VFF, respectively.

    Thanks,

    Clint

    Update: I contacted Softstar

Update: I contacted Softstar and received the product information for the 5mm Trail sole that Softstar uses in some of it's offerings. Vibram 8529 - Sport Utility Oil Resistant Gumlite. Pending what I learn tomorrow, I will most likely purchase from Softstar.

    I'd choose Softstar's

I'd choose Softstar's "street" sole. Soles with aggressive treading offer the least amount of traction on slippery floors.

    Hey guys,

It's been a while, I know. After a bit of prodding (back at the time of my original posting), the softstar person told me their sole was not non-slip enough for the food service industry, and actually recommended a conventional chef's clog (or something similar). Currently I'm using a pair of Vivobarefoot Aqua, and walking carefully. I can feel the shoes becoming more and more slippery as the night goes on, but I just wipe my feet on a small section of carpet several times a night, and things work out alright. Ever hopeful that a company releases a minimalist kitchen-worthy shoe, as it would solve my problems. That's all from me.

    What about the Teva Sling

What about the Teva Sling King - it's meant for boat decks.
