Haven't started one of these for a few years. 6km on the beach this morning, started well with a pretty yellow moon over the water, but unfortunately turned a bit nasty on the return trip when a German Shepherd got a bit protective and aggressive and ran right in front of me and started growling and baring its teeth. I stopped and backed off because it was definitely going to bite me if I took one more step towards the owner, who was 50m away and doing a pretty average job of calling her dog back. In the end I walked into the sea up to my knees to make the dog choose between staying dry and biting the human, and thankfully it was cold so the dog thought better of it. To cap it off, when the owner finally arrived she said "He's only doing that because you're backing away", as I stood in the water with her snarling dog still trying to menace me from the shallows. I informed her as nicely as I could that dog obedience is a very useful skill and perhaps she should consider availing herself and her dog of some training, and perhaps a leash would be useful in the interim. I love dogs, but the aggressive ones should be fired into the sun with their owners.
