4 mile run with Merrel Vaporglove 3's. I tried out a pair of Yaktrax that I received as a Christmas gift and they worked well.Yaktrax are like chains that you attack to your shoes They allowed me to run on packed snow and ice with no worries. It was a beautiful day with fresh snow and filtered sunshine, temps in the 20's. Saw hundreds of seagulls huddled on the ice of Presque Isle bay.
We did a 3 run Tuesday. 57 deg. f. with 15 MPH winds from the south. Today we did a 4 mile run in Denison TX. (out in the country). we went out at 6:00 am, it was still dark. There is almost no lights anywhere (like the street lights and lights on homes in town). this makes it more interesting! It was 37 deg.f. with 16 MPH winds from the north (feels like 29). Really great outing. on another note I looked up week numbers and it may be a little confusing but, 2020 showed to have 53 weeks and week 1 of 2021 started on 1/4/2021. Lets do some research and vote. I vote for leaving this thread open for 2 weeks (may be the simplest).
I like simple, so let's just run this thread for 2 weeks. Keeps you guessing when you run in the dark like that, doesn't it?
Snuck out for a13.5km run between Christmas and new year.. was quite a cold morning -around -1C, but it was fairly dry and so pretty comfortable underfoot... Nice run.. leaving the thread open to cover the period up to 10 Jan sounds fine to me too... (should we change title or just leave it be?)..
10k run today at Presque Isle State Park, 1 mile BF and 5.25 miles wearing my Merrels; patchy ice and snow, 32 degrees but very little wind. Saw a flock of wild turkeys and my daughter ! Had to run through some flooded areas while my shoes were on so got a couple of blistered areas on the tops of my feet from wearing wet shoes with no socks. Should heal quickly though
Ok -I think you might be the only one that can do that Duckfeet because you started the thread. There’s a ‘thread tools’ button that you’ll see at the top of the thread -I think the function you need is in there..
Ok Boulder and I did a 4 mile run in Denison TX (Waterloo lake). We started by the small lake and then went though a residential area. Then we finished off around the lake. It was 37 deg. f. with a slight wind. lots of water fowl ducks and geese and many others. Great outing!
Boulder and I had an excellent 7 mile run today at 7:00 am. Still a little dark out. this was another country run but lots of daylight after the sunrise. We spotted a couple of hawks, goats, llama, lots of horses and cows. One calf was nursing right by the road. 37 deg. f. almost no wind.
4.9 miles today in light rain and snow- 34 degrees. I did 1 mile BF and the rest with my Sockwas. I was surprised to see some other runners out on such a gloomy day. It was a good first run of the year.
So 2021 begins.. Jan 2nd: 7km Jan 4th: 8.25km Both good runs in quite low temps (around-2C), but the ground was fairly dry each time and so no problems with the feet warming up quite quickly once I got under way...
9.75km this morning. A bit cold and rather wet underfoot (+muddy in places), but not actually raining or snowing. Nice steady pace and a reasonable number of other runners out today -good run..
We did 3 miles Tuesday and 3 miles today. Tuesday was 37 deg. f.. Today was 45 with 20 mph wind from the north.2 really great runs!
7.3km today. Quite a chilly morning but nice and dry to start with. Bit of a gentle frost on the ground and it did start to snow lightly before I’d finished, but I’d wrapped up well so was nice and toasty all the way...
4.1 miles yesterday evening with my headlight lighting the way. 28 degrees and dry. First 3 miles in my Sockwas and finished up BF. Saw a couple of people walking their dogs but that was it. Did listen to some good music though. This was the 24th day in a row with no sun at all for us. We are supposed to see some this weekend- keeping my fingers crossed!
11.6km to finish off the week. Nice crisp morning. About -2C and nice and dry so not too bad at all. Quiet morning -only saw a couple of other runners on route.. Plenty of geese still though..
Boulder and I got out for a 10 mile run at 5:30 am. It was 37 deg. f. with light wind. About mile 2 I could hear something hitting the left over dry leaves on the trees. Then in the light I could see flurries (never enough to wet the ground). The ground stayed dry for the whole outing. We spotted lots of rabbits.
4.5 miles today in the SUNSHINE! Wore my Merrells for the first 2.5 miles and finished the final 2 miles BF. It was 35 degrees with no wind, so there were lots of other people out walking and a couple of other runners. This has been a very strange winter- I can't remember very many Januarys where I have been able to get some BF running in like I have this year. I'm not complaining- it will make getting reconditioned in the Spring easier
